Just Rambling

Posted in General on 04/18/2005

I realized it’s been over a week since I’ve written anything, and I have a spare moment right now, so why not…

I’d actually planned last night on making an entry when I got up this morning, but I slept a bit later than planned, so I didn’t get the time to do it.

I finally took a few days off from the lab. I took Thursday off, worked Friday, helped with picnic day Saturday, and took Sunday off too. I must say that I feel so much more sane and that I can once again put together a coherent string of thoughts and actually think about what I want to try next instead of just aimlessly setting up PCR reactions…

Over the weekend, I made plans to go home to Kentucky for Memorial Day weekend. It’s really my only chance to go home until the big, long summer trip at the end of August. It’s going to be a short trip, but it’ll be nice to just go home for a few days. I want to set on the trampoline in the backyard, eat ice cream, and just watch the cows out in the pasture. I also haven’t been in Kentucky in May in 3 years and there’s nothing like Kentucky in May. My sister is also going to be in for the weekend, so that makes it all-the-much better. I love getting to go home to visit, but it’s just not the same unless she’s there too.

In other news, the Danny/Mary site is progressing nicely. I got a lot of work done on it this weekend, and should be ready to roll by this weekend. I ended up making a new banner and changing some stuff in the layout, and it looks gorgeous, if I do say so myself. A whole lot better than that first montrosity of a site I tried to put together 3 years ago… My biggest challenge at the moment is picking a shade of tan for the color scheme. I decided I didn’t like the original one, so I picked something else last night, but didn’t like it today, so now I’m on a third choice. I’ll see what it looks like on my comp at home, and if I like, it’ll stick. I think one of the challenges is finding just the right shade out of so many colors. I’ve gotten away from sticking to the 216 websafe color pallette. I read an article somewhere I can’t remember why, today, with today’s monitors and screens that it’s generally ok not to stick to it. In a way, it’s a great thing, because there are so many more color options, but for the same reason, it can kind of be overwhelming. Choosing out of 216 is a lot more simple than choosing out of 16 million (or is it more?)…

It seemed like I had more stuff floating around my head, but I can’t remember it all at the moment. Ah well.
