The Price of Gas and Crazy Babble

Posted in General on 06/28/2005

Despite every intention to set down and post something these past few weeks, I haven’t gotten around to it. I actually had a post planned about how I used to love to go to Target and Wal-Mart, but am now starting to despise going. Instead, for tonight, we have a random little rant. Now, most people who know me know that saying that I am not a fan of the president is a major understatement…. I didn’t vote for him either time though, so it’s not my fault. Anyhow, my local chevron station shows cnn on the display screens while the gas is pumping… CNN happened to be airing a little speech given by the president about the war in Iraq and how much good it’s done *rolls eyes.* At the same time I’m being bombarded with this babble that I can’t stop, I’m watching the numbers indicating the cost of my purchase fly by… As the numbers are flying, I’m struck with the irony that I’m about to spend nearly 40 bucks to fill up the same car that I used to spend 12 dollars to fill up back when Clinton was in office and things were good… all while listening to that crazy babble come out of that little speaker.

Hungry

This is just a short and completely pointless post… Normally, I just don’t eat all that much. I mean, I eat a normal three meals a day, but I usually do not do that much snacking or eating between meals. For some reason, I’ve eaten like a horse the last few days. Ok, I’m gonna get back to work on my fanfic and try not to eat anything else until dinner…

I Updated!

As promised, it’s June 1, and I have a new layout! It’s in honor of National Dairy Month and features some of my all-time favorite cows. Starting in the left-hand corner and going clockwise we have Brooke (pic made September 2002), Buttercup (April 1996), Bernie (October 1999), Posey (August 1995), and Dana (November 1995–on my sixteenth birthday to be exact). The quality of the pics could have been better. With the exceptions of Brooke and Bernie, all the pics were made with a cheap 35 mm camera. All the pics were scanned with a cheap scanner…. I messed with them the best I could, but there is a limit to the miracles that photoshop can work.

I did some changing around of sections. I dropped the fanart section since almost everything I had was Danny and Mary and is going over to my site for them. I had made some Beth and JJ stuff, but it’s on the fanlisting. I started work on the “Me” section. For now, I have a list of my favorite things and one of random facts. I want to add at least a short bio and a list of dislikes. I”ll probably come up with other stuff to add over time. Still nothing in the Links section or the Site section, but I’ll try to get started this weekend.

In other news, I finally finished that Photoshop book I’ve been reading for over two years… I think I’m going to go back through it though. I’ve forgotten the stuff I read at the beginning.

I went home home for Memorial Day weekend. I had a really nice time–got to see quite a few people, ate a lot of food, and spend time with my family. The airline did forget to put my suitcase on the plane in tiny podunk USA airport yesterday… It ultimately ended up leading to some not fun last night, but I got the suitcase today. It’s setting in my bedroom floor, still needing to be completely unpacked.

I’ve got some exciting stuff going on in lab. I got the greenlight to work on a gene construct–more like a modification to my current one–to make it easier to work with this summer in getting ready to make goats again in the fall. It’s going to rock. I’m going to be a teaching assistant for a lab class this summer, which I’m actually looking forward too, and I’m going to start doing tons of cell culture stuff (having to do with making the goats again this fall). Lots of stuff going on, but I’m definitely excited. I’m one of those people that the more stuff I have to do, the more stuff I can get done. I do my best work and most work under pressure.

Can’t really think of anything else at the moment…
