Just a Little Rant

Posted in General on 11/13/2005

After toiling away in Photoshop for the last hour, I would like to concede defeat to my screencaptures of the Abby/Luka kiss on ER last Thursday (11-10) night. I’ve grown tired of my current message board banner, and quite shockingly (or perhaps not if you’ve been watching the show and feeling as if you’d be better off hitting your head against a brickwall), I don’t want a Danny/Mary one right now. I hadn’t watched ER in over a year, but promos for this last ep hinting that something might happen between Abby and Luka got me to watch. I was not disappointed, and was treated to one very nice kiss at the end of the episode. When I first saw it, I thought it would be perfect fodder for a new banner. Or so I thought…

I got around to capping the scene tonight, fired up Photoshop, and set about making a spiffy new banner. The only problem is, no matter what caps I pick and no matter what combination or order, I cannot get them to blend together at all. It seems like every single cap is close up and has something right at the edge that makes it impossible to get it to mix with something else.

This is not the first time this has happened in my banner making exploits over the years. Upon looking back at some other situations like this, it always seems that it tends to happen the most with scenes that I really want to use the most in artwork.

Maybe I’ll try screencapping the scene again in hopes of getting some decent caps. If not, I suppose I’ll really admit defeat and wait until later in the week. Maybe I’ll get something banner-worthy with Abby and Luke in this upcoming Thursday’s ER, or if not, there’s supposed to be some good Foah stuff coming up at the end of the week on Passions. My luck will probably be there will be good stuff on both, but I’ll run into this same stupid screencap problem again. Oy.

New Layout!

After 5 months, I have finally gotten around to making a new layout. I figured it was about time since the last layout was in honor of National Dairy Month and that was back in June. As per the usual, I had been meaning to do this for along time but just recently got around to it.

There are still some sections that need to be finished–like the section with information about the site. I suppose I’ll get around to it eventually. This time, however, I did fix it so that the word press stuff matches the rest of the site. Now, when any of the 4 of you who visit the site decide to make a comment, the comment page matches the rest of the site.

Now, in the words of Forrest Gump… That’s alll I have to say about that.

Stupid Cold

More than anything in this world, I hate being sick. I don’t like feeling bad, and I always feel guilty that I’m not getting as much work done as I should be. It’s just not fun at all.

Tuesday morning with absolutely no warning, I woke up with a sore throat, fever, and no energy. Normally, I can tell for a few days ahead of time–or at least a day ahead–if I’m starting to come down with something. After much deliberation with myself on the issue, I decided that I really didn’t feel good at all and that I’d be better of at home–where I spent much of the day asleep and the rest of the time feeling guilty because I needed to be at school getting some work done.

As the day progressed, my sore throat turned out not be a sore throat but a cold. *cue ominous sounding music* I don’t cope very well with colds. For most illnesses, I’m down a day but then I’m right back at it. I may not feel 100%, but I’m ok enough to get things done. With colds, I’m never quite that lucky. For some reason, I end up feeling like crap and having no energy for practically a week.

I manged to make it in Wednesday and work for about 5 hours–after which, I was completely exhausted. I ended up sleeping 13 hours last night, and somehow today, I feel worse than I did yesterday. It could have something to do with the fact that the fever is back and that as per the usual progression of one of my colds, my lungs are now completely congested and feel like someone poured cement down in them. I’m hoping I’ll make it til 4 this afternoon… If not, I’ll be going home early and feeling guilty…again…
