I Made Something!

Posted in General on 02/19/2007

I finally made something in photoshop. It’s not really a “functional” piece in any sense of the word–not a wallpaper, banner, or icon-but it is pretty to look at. Ironically, it is a Danny/Mary piece, but I don’t have any Grey’s Anatomy caps made yet and I wasn’t in the mood to screencap.

My little piece of fanart.

Lost: Inspiration

According to Veronica, I’m behind on my New Year’s resolution to write more in my blog. I have a nice, long reflective-type post planned on my latest big purchase, but tonight I’m going to write about something else instead.

I seem to have lost my inspiration to make fanart in photoshop. I’ve been stressed out lately, and the last few days, I’ve been telling myself that I need to come up with an art project in photoshop to help unwind some. Tonight, I was thinking about it again, and I realized that I hadn’t made anything at all in photoshop since October. No wallpaper, no icons, no layouts, no banners–no nothing. I need to get over this rut I’m in and do something with that program I spent so much time learning.

So far, I’ve kind of been drawing a blank. My old usual inspiration was Danny and Mary on Las Vegas. However, I’m pretty much out of fanart fodder with them, and the current and upcoming goings-on with the show are completely non-inspirational.

Basically, I need some new inspiration for my fanart. I thought about Abby and Luka on ER, and while I love them, nothing has really compelled me to want to make fanart. There’s Josh and Donna from TWW, but they’ve been pretty extensively covered fanart wise by other people. (I know, I know–it’s not a prerequsite that other people haven’t made fanart, but still…) I’m pretty much totally and obsessively ’shipping Matt and Harriet on Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip and Derek and Meredith on Grey’s Anatomy. I have no screencaps of either one right now, which I admit is a totally fixable situation. I have every single episode that has ever aired of both shows. The thought of doing the screencapping is kind of killing the idea of just jumping in with something though. What I think I really need to do is just pick a scene, make some caps, and just start working on something–maybe a wallpaper. I need a new one since the new laptop I got in November has a widescreen and all of my old wallpaper is not at a widescreen dimension size-wise…

I have been looking at some of my favorite tutorial sites again and have pulled some of my photoshop books off the shelf. Hopefully, this time next week, I’ll have some new fanart to show off. May the tv show episodes coming up this week provide inspiration and fanart fodder.
