This year, I will do a better job…
As all 5 of you out there reading know, I am not the most frequent blog updater. I’m also known for not really saying anything with much of any real substance to it, which is primarily a function of trying to remain somewhat anonymous to anyone who randomly manages to find this place.
Several years ago, one of my New Year’s resolutions was to write in my blog more frequently. It was basically an epic fail of a resolution. I have decided, however, that I am going to try again, along with my resolution to, in general, get back into web design and photoshop again. I’m not sure how it exactly happened that I lost interest in the first place, but I know I used the excuse of “I don’t have time” a lot with myself over the past couple of years. It is true that I’ve had a lot on my plate, and definitely not as much time as when I started this, but, at the end of the day, I have had plenty of bits of time here-and-there that I could have worked on various web-related things. I just didn’t feel like it though for whatever reason. More and more recently, I’ve found myself missing working on coding and making things in Photoshop. I’ve decided to take a page out of my friend Liz’s (at something-insightful.com) book and just get started with all of this again.
Practically everything, save for keeping my fanlistings updated to abide by the tfl rules, has been neglected the past couple of years, so there is much that needs to be done. I’m trying to get over my tendency to think about all the things that need doing, followed by thinking it all needs to be done at once, then feeling overwhelmed and not getting any of it done. It’s supposed to be a fun hobby, not a not-so-fun task (like writing my dissertation). I’ve also decided that in most cases, I need to focus more on content than new layouts. For one extreme example, I first started work on this place as a personal site almost 4 years ago. It’s supposed to have more than my fanlistings, links to fanlistings I’ve joined, and a couple of lists of random (and sometimes silly) facts about me.
At any rate, I’m going to make an honest try to be more engaged in this place this year.
Happy New Year, everyone!
